Welcome to my Blog. I'm a practising member of SGI-UK a lay buddhist organisation practising the Buddhism of Nichiren Daishonin. It is often described as a practise of Active Humanism which I think reflects it perfectly. The basic practise is the chanting of 'Nam Myoho Renge Kyo' on a daily basis and putting the practise into use in our daily lives thereby making this a practical rather than esoteric form of Buddhism. For more information, please follow the Buddhist links on the right of this page

“Prayer is the courage to persevere. It is the struggle to overcome our own weakness and lack of confidence in ourselves. It is the act of impressing in the very depths of our being the conviction that we can change the situation without fail. Prayer is the way to destroy all fear. It is the way to banish sorrow, the way to light a torch of hope. It is the revolution that rewrites the scenario of our destiny... Believe in yourself! Don't sell yourself short! Devaluing yourself is contrary to Buddhism, because it denigrates the Buddha state of being within you.”.

Sneezy and Grumpy

SGI President Ikeda's Daily Encouragement for May 7 Many things happen in life. There are joyous days and times of suffering. Sometimes unpleasant things occur. But that's what makes life so interesting. The dramas we encounter are part and parcel of being human. If we experienced no change or drama in our lives, if nothing unexpected ever happened, we would merely be like automatons, our lives unbearably monotonous and dull. Therefore, please develop a strong self so that you can enact the drama of your life with confidence and poise in the face of whatever vicissitudes you may encounter.

Woke this morning feeling like I'd only slept a few hours but had managed about 8 1/2 .. just feel groggy for some reason. Had a cuppa while watching Buffy (soon gonna have to order series 4!) .. then went to Kosen Rufu Buddhist Meeting. Only 4 of us there but maybe because I felt so groggy and have started sneezing and stuff though don't think it's a proper cold, it actually seemed a really good one to me .. I sometimes find it helps to be a bit 'thick headed' when I chant for longer periods as my mind stays more focussed and doesn't wander all over the place. Just got back now and I'm going to have a big throw out today and generally tidy and sort things out as the flat's looking more like an office at the moment .. but first .. a big veggie fry up.
